Senior AI/ML Engineer

Priority hire
Engineering
Remote (US)
Full-time

ClearPath.AI is in active development with expected launch Q1 2027. You'll join as an early builder — high ownership, direct founder access, and real influence over architecture and product direction.

Why this role now

Core to shipping our explainable AI layer before beta.

Overview

We're seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to lead development of defensible AI systems for digital evidence processing. You'll design machine learning models that meet the highest standards of transparency, auditability, and courtroom defensibility. As a founding engineer, you'll shape technical architecture alongside our CTO — not inherit it. Stack includes Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, cloud ML infrastructure, explainability tooling, and integration with our Salesforce GovCloud platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement machine learning models for document analysis, evidence classification, and pattern recognition
  • Develop explainable AI systems that provide clear reasoning for all automated decisions
  • Build robust model validation frameworks that ensure accuracy and defensibility
  • Collaborate with forensics and legal advisors to understand real-world requirements and constraints
  • Create comprehensive documentation and audit trails for all AI decisions
  • Implement model versioning, monitoring, and performance tracking systems
  • Research and evaluate ML techniques applicable to legal technology
  • Contribute to foundational technical architecture decisions
  • Ensure AI systems are designed for legal and regulatory compliance from the start
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience developing production ML systems
  • Strong expertise in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar ML frameworks
  • Experience with explainable AI (XAI) techniques and model interpretability
  • Proven track record of deploying ML models to production
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices and version control
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Comfort working independently in a remote, early-stage environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with legal technology, e-discovery, or digital forensics
  • Knowledge of chain of custody requirements and legal evidence standards
  • Experience with NLP for document analysis and text extraction
  • Familiarity with computer vision for image and video analysis
  • Experience with MLOps and model deployment pipelines
  • Understanding of AI ethics and bias mitigation techniques
  • Published research in ML/AI or related fields
  • Experience working in regulated industries
