Overview

We're seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to lead the development of defensible AI systems for digital evidence processing. You'll work on cutting-edge machine learning models that must meet the highest standards of transparency, auditability, and courtroom defensibility. This role is critical to our mission of building AI that enhances, rather than replaces, human expertise in legal proceedings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement machine learning models for document analysis, evidence classification, and pattern recognition
  • Develop explainable AI systems that provide clear reasoning for all automated decisions
  • Build robust model validation frameworks that ensure accuracy and defensibility
  • Collaborate with legal and forensics teams to understand requirements and constraints
  • Create comprehensive documentation and audit trails for all AI decisions
  • Implement model versioning, monitoring, and performance tracking systems
  • Research and evaluate new ML techniques applicable to legal technology
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical architecture decisions
  • Ensure all AI systems comply with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience developing production ML systems
  • Strong expertise in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar ML frameworks
  • Experience with explainable AI (XAI) techniques and model interpretability
  • Proven track record of deploying ML models to production
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices and version control
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to work independently and in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with legal technology, e-discovery, or digital forensics
  • Knowledge of chain of custody requirements and legal evidence standards
  • Experience with NLP for document analysis and text extraction
  • Familiarity with computer vision for image and video analysis
  • Experience with MLOps and model deployment pipelines
  • Understanding of AI ethics and bias mitigation techniques
  • Published research in ML/AI or related fields
  • Experience working in regulated industries
